Birthday & SPI

This has been an eventful weekend. I celebrated my 70th birthday, much better than the alternative for right now, anyway, and because we've been serving as part of the McAllen District of the United Methodist Church, we were invited to join the annual pastor's retreat at South Padre Island, Texas. Fellowship with our friends at a Thursday evening patio party at our very dear friend's Ila Wisdom, followed by the weekend at SPI where we wandered the beach, found a delightful waterfront "pub" complete with gracious servers and beautiful sunsets.. we ate lunch, sunset snacks and lunch on Sunday there.

Busy last weeks at Donna

There are many things going on as we end our interim at Donna, eight new members, eight baptisms and much wonderful music from the talented folks of the Donna Church. Here are some photos of my first baptism by imersion and two adults and their parents. Three more adult baptisms and one baby are scheduled for the first Sunday in May. Peg Hayelan has shared the music with Eileen all season, she is a great pianist, together they lead our music worship.

Spring Brake

This week we have been blessed with a visit from our granddaughter Marilin. Today we traveled to South Padre Island for a day of fun. Our photos are of us and Marilin at the beach! No it's not a blob, but it is a large jelly fish!

Easter at Donna FUMC

Palm Sunday was a exciting service eight new members and an adult baptism.
Our Easter at Donna First United Methodist was grand and glorious. We began with 7:00 a.m. sunrise service, followed by pancake breakfast, an Easter Egg hunt and another service at 10:30a.m.. 68 for sunrise and 215 for the 10:30 a.m. service. The sunrise service was held in the beautifully renewed by Connie Graham (horticulturist & Lay Leader) prayer garden.
We'll serve the Donna Church until we return to Indiana May 15th. It has been a joyful adventure to serve as their interim since last October with breaks for a cruise and trip to Nigeria.

Lastest Escapades

Our Latest adventures include Eileen's trip to Indiana to visit our five grands there. She had a great time and I was glad to have here back home again in Texas. Taylor, Tommie, Spencer, Reagan & Reilly Matt, Shauna, Scot and Jenny. While in Jos, Nigeria Eileen had outfits custom made for the girls. They are showing them off in some of these photos. The dresses are made by a ministry with widows who are taught to sew, given a pedel operated sewing machine and then returned to their villages where they can earn a living sewing. We also has outfits made. Eileen and I wore ours for Easter.
